Whitebait offenders convicted
On Wednesday 11 April two defendants were convicted in the Smithton Magistrates Court for offences relating to the illegal taking of whitebait. Our Officers apprehended the offenders last spring. Deekan Jackson of Stanley pled guilty to taking whitebait from Deep Creek. He was fined $1500 and ordered to pay $82.15 in court costs. Andrew Anderson...

Caution, blue green algae may be present at Four Springs Lake
Testing has revealed that blue green algae may be present in Four Springs Lake. Further sampling will be undertaken to identify if the algae is toxic. As a precaution anglers should not drink from the lake, avoid unnecessary contact with the water and wash and cook fish thoroughly before consumption.

Trout begin to run!
Recent rain and cooler weather has seen the first of the brown trout arrive in Liawenee Canal. IFS officers have been monitoring the run and report that the fish are in excellent condition and averaging around 1kg.
