Obstructing a Boat Ramp – Please don’t do this!

None

It’s the responsibility of all people to respect the rights of other anglers and the wider boating public. Preventing boat users from utilising a public boat ramp at an  inland water is not only disrespectful behaviour, it is prohibited by law and may cost the offender more than a social rebuff by those wanting to use the ramp.

Under Section 140 of the Inland Fisheries Act 1995, a person must not place or leave unattended anything that obstructs or is likely to obstruct a public boat launching ramp adjacent to any inland waters; or the access to or from a public boat launching ramp adjacent to any inland waters. The penalty for doing so, may result in a fine of up to $1010.

So please, think again and think of others when using the boat launching and car parking facilities at our inland waters. Look for and obey any parking signs that may be in place.

Fishing is about having fun, so don’t spoil the experience for someone else by selfish behaviour such as cleaning your fish whilst parked on the ramp, leaving your trailer obstructing a ramp or your boat on a pontoon for excessive time.

Please note that boat ramp access roads are used for essential safety purposes and should not be obstructed under any circumstances.
