Taylor's Dam Junior Fishing Day

The big ones were biting on Sunday at Taylor's Dam!

The Devonport Junior Anglers Club held their first fish out day of the 2025-26 season at Taylor's Dam at Latrobe on Sunday.

Light winds and overcast skies made for ideal fishing conditions, with over 60 junior anglers participating in the day.

Thirteen Rainbow trout were caught, which included a couple of thumpers up to six kilo!

The next fish out day is scheduled for Sunday 14th September at Taylors Dam (opposite Anvers, just outside Latrobe).

To be eligible to fish at the dam you must be under 18 years of age and it must be on an official fish out day (the dam is closed to public fishing at all other times).

The fish out days make for a great family day out with plenty of help and advice available if you have never trout fished before.  There is a canteen and BBQ available for lunch for a small cost, with the proceeds from sales going back into the club.

The fish out days are co-ordinated and run by volunteers, who are supported by Anglers Alliance Tasmania and other sponsors. For further information including registration forms please visit the Facebook page or phone 0439 805 050.
