Meadowbank Dam works starting soon!

None

Meadowbank Dam’s crest gates are being refurbished. This important maintenance work will ensure Meadowbank Dam can continue to generate renewable energy, protect surrounding communities from floods and water levels in Lake Meadowbank constant. For more information about the project, visit www.connect.hydro.com.au.

Work on Gate 1 will start this month and for safety reasons, Lake Meadowbank will be lowered 2 metres below its usual level from 29 January 2023. In mid-March, the lake will be lowered a further 4 metres while we test the newly installed hydraulic cylinders and control system. The lake is expected to return to normal levels by May. Gate 2 will be completed in 2024.

During works, the lake will be too low to use Dunrobin boat ramp and this facility will be temporarily closed. To explore alternative Hydro Tasmania sites nearby, check out our interactive map www.hydro.com.au/findasite/
