TasWater, MAST and the Inland Fisheries Service are committed to upgrading the Lake Mikany boat ramp, near Smithton, during 2023-24.

We are pleased to advise that Stage 1 of the upgrade is complete and the boat ramp is open while the lake is at full supply level.

Boats may be launched with care when the boom gate is open. Anglers are reminded that manually propelled or electric motors only are permitted at Lake Mikany.

Boat operators please launch with caution: Steep drop off at the end of the ramp.

Further closure of the ramp will be required later in the season to complete Stage 2 of the upgrade.

Reports are that good fish are being caught at present.
