Private dams stocked for public fishing

None
One of the access points at Rostrevor Lagoon

The Inland Fisheries Service has recently stocked a number of private farm dams. All these dams are located along the North West Coast, with the exception of Rostrevor Reservoir and all offer good access for anglers.

The IFS appreciates the privilege extended by landowners to provide access and ask that all anglers ‘do the right thing’ to ensure the access is ongoing.

To fish in these dams you must abide by the access arrangements in place for each property including contacting the landowner prior to fishing if required and abiding by the access rules including no fires, no littering, no shooting, observing angling regulations, leaving gates as you find them and any other instructions given by the landowner.

Also please be aware that the landowner can refuse permission for access for reasons such as farming operations, safety concerns or when a quarantine situation is required.

The dams have been stocked with brown trout fry and fingerlings and IFS has installed signs, stiles and other infrastructure to provide safe access points.

A list of farm dams, access conditions and contact details is available on the IFS website.

In addition to those on the list are:
• Rostrevor Reservoir, north of Triabunna on the A3. Prior permission required - phone Marcus or Ian Weeding 6257 3233 / 0407 871 967 / 0427 573 233
• Lamberts Dam C153 Native Plains Road Railton. Prior permission not required.
