Recreational Fish Management

A weir one kilometre from the mouth is often a hot spot during the spring whitebait run, where large aggregations can occur. Fishing for sea run trout is popular and productive in the estuary. Good river trout are regularly caught through the Fernglade reserve by all angling methods.
Above this point access can be difficult as the river flows through steep, forested terrain.
Wade fishing with celtas and baits can produce great results, particularly around Upper Natone Road. Fly fishing is challenging due to overgrown vegitation on the banks.
