Craigbourne Lake - Temporarily Closed
Craigbourne Lake has been temporarily closed to both irrigation water supply and recreational activities following the detection of blue-green algae.
Routine monitoring conducted by Tasmanian Irrigation identified the presence of blue green algae in the lake. While water samples undergo further testing by an independent laboratory, precautionary measures have been put in place to protect public health and the environment.
As a result, the lake is currently closed for all recreational use, including:
- Boating
- Kayaking
- Fishing
This response aligns with Tasmanian Irrigation’s Blue Green Algae Management Plan. The closure will remain in place until laboratory results confirm that there is no risk to people, livestock, or surrounding waterways.
The Inland Fisheries Service will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Tasmanian Irrigation appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during this time.
