Background

Gunns Lake is a small shallow lake approximately 6 KM north east of Arthurs Lake. Gunns Lake can be accessed by 4wd road via Gunns Marsh Road and Tumbledown Creek bridge. In spring, when water levels are typically high, tailing fish can be found foraging in the extensive flooded margins and weedbeds. Spinning with shallow running lures and fly fishing with wet flies can be effective. During summer wade polaroiding is the preferred angling method. Gunns Lake is within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Please protect the environment, stay on formed tracks and roads and follow recommended management requirements on signs to ensure access to this area is maintained.
