Trout Weekend 2026 Photo Competition
Get the beanie, hit the water, snap a photo, and submit to win!
Celebrate Trout Weekend 2026 by taking part in an exclusive, free photo competition for licensed freshwater anglers.
Major prizes limited to first 500 entrants.
How to Enter
- Attend Trout Weekend 2026 (10-11 October 2026) and register your details by scanning the QR code and completing the competition entry form. You will need your freshwater angling licence number to register.
- Collect your exclusive Trout Weekend 2026 beanie (limit: one beanie per family).
- Go trout fishing anywhere in Tasmania throughout the months of October and November 2026.
- Take a trout fishing-related photograph that clearly features the Trout Weekend 2026 beanie.
- Submit your photo by email to troutweekend@ifs.tas.gov.au before 11:59 pm on 30 November 2026.
- The email must also include your full name, phone number, angling licence number and location where the photo was taken.
Eligibility
- Entrants must hold a current Tasmanian Inland Angling Licence for the 2026-27 season.
- Competition photographs must be taken in Tasmania during the competition period and relate to inland trout fishing.
- The exclusive Trout Weekend 2026 beanie must be clearly visible in the image to qualify for the major prizes.
- A maximum of 5 photos are permitted from registered participants, however each photo must be unique.
- Eligibility for the major prizes is limited to the first 500 participants who collect a Trout Weekend 2026 beanie, with a maximum of one beanie issued per family.
- If we run out of Trout Weekend 2026 beanies, the competition registration will remain open for the duration of Trout Weekend, however submitted photos which don’t include the beanie will only be eligible for supplementary prizes.
- Entries must be submitted before 11:59 pm on Monday 30 November 2026.
Competition Period
- Opens: Competition registrations from 10:00 am on 10 October 2026
- Closes: 11:59 pm, Monday 30 November 2026.
Photo Ideas
Photos must be taken in Tasmania and relate to inland fishing. They do not need to contain a trout; they may feature trout fishing landscapes, equipment or fishing experiences. Photos could include:
- Anglers fishing for trout
- Trout captures and releases
- Scenic trout waters
- Family and friends enjoying trout fishing
- Trout fishing adventures around Tasmania
The Trout Weekend 2026 beanie must be visible in every submitted photo to be eligible for a major prize.
Prizes
Photos will be judged by a panel comprising of IFS staff. The panel's decision will be final and no correspondence around the results will be entered into.
Prize categories:
- 1st place = $1,000
- 2nd place = $750
- 3rd place = $500
- 4th place = $250
- 5th place = $125
- Directors Choice Award = $500
- Supplementary prizes and honourable mentions = up to 10 prizes ($100 each)
