Craigbourne Lake Reopened

None
Tasmanian Irrigation advise that Craigbourne Lake is reopening.

Craigbourne Lake will reopen for recreational access from Tuesday 30 June, following the lifting of the blue green algae closure.

Recent testing indicates the algae in the lake is a non-toxic type, with no harmful toxins detected, and algae levels are falling as the weather cools. Visible scums have largely cleared. On this basis, and in conjunction with the Inland Fisheries Service and Marine and Safety Tasmania, Tasmanian Irrigation advise that the dam is reopening.

As a precaution, it is recommend to avoid direct contact with the water where possible, and keep well clear of any areas that look discoloured or scummy. Keep pets away from any visible algae. Blue green algae can return in warmer months and conditions can change, so please remain cautious and report any concerns to Tasmanian Irrigation.

Thank you for your patience during the closure. Tasmanian Irrigation looks forward to welcoming you back to the dam.

IFS will continue winter stocking operations for this water on the back of the reopening, with brown and rainbow trout to be released. To keep up to date visit the latest fish stocking section of the website, or download the InFish App.
