The Derwent Catchment Project have advised that the Tyenna River Willow Warriors program will kick off again in the new year.

The program contributes to the overall health of the Tyenna River system, and works are jointly funded by IFS, SFM, Tasrail and the Derwent Valley Council.

The first working bee in 2026 will at the restoration site in Maydena to remove pine saplings and carry out maintenance on the existing re-vegetation. The work will be mainly cut and paste of pine trees with herbicide. If the soil moisture content is favourable at the time, the group will also plant some more trees.
