Pillans Track maintenance

None

The Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) has engaged a contractor and started clearing vegetation on the Pillans Track from Lake Augusta to maintain the 4x4 access for anglers. The Pillans Track is one of only three 4x4 tracks within the iconic Western Lakes fishery. Under a Parks and Wildlife Services (PWS) permit, the IFS are operating in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, a fragile and sensitive alpine environment at over 1100 meters elevation. The up most care is being taken to ensure minimal impact on native flora.  The work will take up to ten days and is designed to ensure vehicle access is maintained for the next ten years.
