AgFest 2026 “Guess the number of lures in the bucket” Competition Winners
The Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) is pleased to announce the winners of the “Guess the number of lures in the bucket” competition, held at AgFest 2026 in the Fishing Hub Marquee.
A total of 584 fishing lures filled the competition bucket, with prizes awarded to entrants who submitted the closest estimates. Winners were determined across three age categories: Under 17 years, 18–21 years, and Over 21 years.
Winners in the adult categories (18–21 years and Over 21 years) each received a free one-season angling licence. In addition, the entrant with the closest estimate in each adult category was awarded a handcrafted Deviot Forge knife, created by Tasmanian knife maker Dave Maynard.
Winners in the junior category (Under 17 years) received IFS Angling Prize Packs, which included a rod and reel, a selection of fishing lures, and an IFS merchandise pack.
The IFS stand at the Fishing Hub proved to be a popular attraction throughout AgFest. The competition provided a valuable opportunity for visitors to engage with IFS staff, learn about inland fisheries, and discuss freshwater species, angling opportunities, and fisheries management across Tasmania.
Strong visitation numbers in 2026 highlight the ongoing community interest in Tasmania’s inland waters and the work of the IFS. The IFS congratulates all winners and thanks everyone who entered!
