Poatina Power Station Maintenance – Brumbys Creek Flow Changes
Hydro Tasmania has advised that essential maintenance is required on the Poatina penstock, which supplies water to the Poatina Power Station. This work is necessary to ensure the station continues to operate safely and efficiently.
To minimise impacts on waterways and water users, the maintenance will be carried out over two periods:
- 13 July 2026 – 30 September 2026
- April – September 2027
During these periods, the penstock must be kept dry. As a result:
- The Poatina Power Station will be shut down.
- There will be no outflows from the tailrace into Brumbys Creek.
Hydro Tasmania expects that natural inflows will maintain flow in Brumbys Creek. However, water levels and flows are likely to be lower than usual.
