Opening Weekend Option #2 - Four Springs Lake
Second in our opening weekend options series is Four Springs Lake. Always a productive destination early in the season. This year will be no different.
Our stocking team has been flat out and have released 3,000 adult brown and 1,600 adult rainbow trout into Four Springs Lake over the past couple of months. This has added to the larger fish from previous years stockings with a fish survey conducted during late Autumn 2025 revealing good numbers of well-conditioned fish well over 400 mm in length.
Lure, bait and wet fly fishing will all be successful methods. A new barrier net at the outflow has been installed to make sure the fish can’t escape and the Anglers Alliance Tasmania (AAT) webcam is operational for you to check the local conditions before you go. You can access the webcam via the AAT website or via the Infish App. Reminder to boat anglers to stay under the 5-knot speed limit and be respectful of other boat and shore-based anglers.
Anglers are advised to keep an eye open for any redfin perch in Four Springs Lake following the capture of a single large perch in late April. Please report any sightings to the IFS on 1300 INFISH or infish@ifs.tas.gov.au.
See you there opening weekend!
