Opening Weekend Option #1 - Lake Sorell

None
Lake Sorell Trout are now big, fat and strong!

First in our series of opening weekend options is one of the most exciting prospects for this season: Lake Sorell. Now that European carp have been eradicated, it’s finally time to go back!

The barrier nets that were installed to prevent carp access to the marshes have been removed, meaning the trout have had access to the prime feeding grounds to fatten up. The tail end of last season saw some outstanding catches of large fish landed by anglers trolling shallow running lures (cobras and bibbed lures etc.) along the hatchery shore.

The camp ground at Dago Point has been upgraded, there is plenty of space and it’s accessible by 2-wheel drive vehicles. Toilet facilities are also available.

To top it off, there are now three $5,000 tagged fish swimming around in the lake as part of the season 2025-26 Tagged Trout Promotion.

Get excited: Season 2025–26 is nearly here!
