Extension of the Bradys Lake system for angling from 28 April 2025
The Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) has decided to again open the Bradys Lake system (including Bradys Lake, Lake Binney and Tungatinah Lagoon) for recreational angling for the 'off season' (28 April 2025 to 1 August 2025).
Following a successful trial in 2024, opening of the Bradys Lake system for recreational angling is again permitted via an exemption permit issued by the Director of Inland Fisheries, under the Inland Fisheries Act 1995. Plans are currently underway to make this change permanent for future seasons, meaning that the Bradys chain will be permanently added to the list of waters available for "year round" angling.
The inflowing water at Bradys Lake, known as the “whitewater”, will remain closed to angling during this period to protect any spawning brown trout.
This three-month period, ahead of the official opening of the brown trout season on Saturday 2 August 2025, will provide additional angling opportunities for licence holders over winter. These waters will soon be receiving a fresh stocking of rainbow trout, so keep an eye out for more news!
Anglers who hold a 2024-25 full season angling licence will be able to fish the Bradys Lake system from 28 April 2025, through until 31 July 2025. From 1 August 2025, anglers will require a 2025-26 angling licence.
Angling licence renewals, or new licence purchases, for the 2025-26 season, will be available from 1 July 2025.
