INLAND FISHERIES ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Minister for Primary Industries and Water seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the Inland Fisheries Advisory Council (IFAC) in the following categories:

  • a person who holds an angling licence representing the northern area
  • a person who holds an angling licence representing the southern area
  • a person with expertise in the area of conservation of freshwater ecosystems
  • a person with expertise in the area of tourism relating to inland fisheries
  • and one Ministerial appointment (Chair).

Established under Section 20A of the Inland Fisheries Act 1995, IFAC is the advisory body for matters relating to inland fisheries.

The IFAC is to advise the Minister on inland fisheries issues, provide a forum for consultation, promote understanding and acceptance of the functions of the Director of Inland Fisheries, encourage community support for fisheries management activities and review management plans for inland fisheries.

Appointments will be made for a period of up to four (4) years. Members will receive a sitting fee and reimbursement of travel costs.
