The best fly tyers will be at the Great Lake Tie-In 2022

            Great Lake Tie-In 2022

After last year’s cancellation due to Covid 19 lockdown, we are back on 15th October 2022 and look forward to a bigger and better event in the Central Highlands of Tasmania. As in past years the event will be held in the Miena Community Centre, Cider Gum Road Miena.

Some of the activities on the day include:

  • The chance to watch and chat to some of Australia's best fly tyers in one location.
  • Juniors will have the opportunity to tie their own fly at the junior table.
  • Fly Tying material dyeing demonstration will be held from 11am to 12.30pm.
  • Fly fishing and tying gear will be available for purchase on the day.
  • Bid for some great items in the Silent Auctions.
  • Inland Fisheries Service and Anglers Alliance Tasmania displays.

A fly tying competition with some good prizes to be had for the winners. Materials and the fly to be tied will be revealed on the day.

This year's guests will be Steve and Jo Starling. Their attendance has been organised by Roger Butler from the Trout Guides and Lodges Tasmania and Tourism Tasmania (TGALT).

It is great to see community involvement over the weekend and the following activities make for a great overall experience:

  • Friday night Talk/dinner at Central Highlands Lodge with Jo and Steve Starling organised by TGALT
  • Saturday, Great Lake Tie-in from 10am to 3pm.
  • Saturday from 4.30pm at Great Lake Hotel.  Casting competition.

Food and drinks will be available at the tie-in by the Community Centre committee.
