Lake Mikany boat ramp extended

None
The boat ramp at Lake Mikany has been extended.

The recent low water levels have allowed the boat ramp at Lake Mikany to be extended. The lake is managed by TasWater as a water supply and being close to Stanley and Smithton it has become a popular fishery.

Set in natural bushland this sheltered water provides opportunities to fish from either the shore or a small boat. Boats propelled manually or by electric motor can only be used. With a good inflowing stream the wild brown trout are able to spawn naturally and no stocking is needed.

The boat ramp will remain closed until the water level improves.
