Volunteers Barry Page and Rob Chandler from the Huon Licensed Anglers Association and Joe Wisniewski joined IFS staff for Business Clean Up Australia Day.

The clean-up focussed on Anglers Access sites and around the bridge crossings on the Huon River upstream from Huonville.

It was pleasing that there was very little litter at Angler Access sites but the amount of illegal dumping and littering around our waterways is disturbing.

The team collected a full ute and trailer load of rubbish. The rubbish was mostly drink containers but including children’s toys, domestic rubbish, bits of cars, batteries, wheels, tyres and a fuel tank.

Huon Valley Council provided a free tip pass for disposal and recycling.
