Bell Bay Water Treatment Plant/Curries River Dam access February 2016

None

Due to continued low river levels and ongoing dry conditions Bell Bay Water Treatment Plant is being returned to service to supply water to the George Town and Bell Bay areas to provide an alternative supply and take the load off the other water sources in the greater Launceston area.

Water is being drawn from Curries River Dam. While Curries River Dam is being used for a drinking water supply Taswater have restricted access to minimise the risks of contaminating the water supply.

People cannot enter the water, fish or use any water craft including canoes/kayaks while the dam is being used as a water supply.

This will remain in place until the end of the water restrictions in the greater Launceston area.
