Season closed as of midnight Sunday 3 May for brown trout waters
The 2008/09 angling season for the majority of inland waters closed midnight Sunday May 3. There are lakes that will remain open till May 31 and these are Dee Lagoon, Lake Rowallan, Lake Rosebery, Lake Mackintosh, Lake Skinner, Lake Meston and Junction Lake. Lagoon of Islands is also still open but not recommended due to very low waters levels. This year for the first time four rivers will remain open; the Weld River in the North, the Weld River in the South, a section of the Leven River (between Button Rivulet and Loongana Road) and the Mersey River above Lake Rowallan. These rivers will close at the end of the rainbow trout waters season midnight May 31. Waters open all year round are Great Lake (excluding Canal Bay), Brushy Lagoon, Lake Burbury, Lake Pedder, Lake Gordon, Lake Barrington, Meadowbank Lake, the Huon River below the main road bridge, the River Derwent below the Bridgewater Bridge, the Tamar River below the A7 and A8 bridges and the Leven River downstream of the Alison bridge on Golf Club Rd. Craigbourne Dam is also open but the water levels are extremely low and it is not recommended.
