Road Closures – Lake Repulse and Brumbys Creek

08-07-2010

Forestry Tasmania has closed the road on the western shore of Lake Repulse until September and Hydro Tasmania has closed the track to the bottom weir at Brumbys Creek until the opening of the trout season.

To facilitate public and contractor safety, Forestry Tasmania has advised that the road accessing the western shore of Lake Repulse via State Forest will be closed to traffic until the start of September due to softwood harvesting operations. The public boat ramp near Repulse Dam is not affected.

Due to ongoing environmental damage caused by the indiscriminate use of 4WD vehicles on sensitive wetlands, Hydro Tasmania has locked the gate on the vehicle track from Lees Bridge to Brumbys Creek No. 3 Weir (otherwise known as the bottom weir), until the season opens on Saturday 7 August. This will give grass and marshes in the area time to recover prior to the angling season.
