Rainbow waters now open, others still closed

Rainbow waters (ie Dee Lagoon, lakes Rowallan, Skinner, Meston, Youd and Junction, Lagoon of Islands, and sections of the Mersey, Leven, and Weld rivers in the North and South) are now open. There are a small number of waters that will remain closed until the 30 October or 4 December in the case of Canal Bay, Great Lake.

Rainbow trout season now open until 29 May 2011

The rainbow season opened on Saturday 2 October, closing on 29 May 2011. Rainbow waters include Dee Lagoon, Lake Rowallan, Lake Skinner, Lake Meston, Lake Youd, Junction Lake, Lagoon of Islands, Mersey River above Lake Rowallan, a section of the River Leven (between grid reference E416578 N5423533 and E416218 N5416099) and the Weld River in the North and the Weld River in the South of the State.

Other waters that will remain closed for longer are Canal Bay, Great Lake which will remain closed until Saturday 4 December and the following waters that are due to open on Saturday 30 October:

§  Bradys Lake from the mouth of the tunnel conveying water from Dee Lagoon to post markers at Bradys Lake

§  Bradys ‘whitewater’ between the control gates on the Lyell Highway to Bradys Lake

§  Bronte Canal from Pine Tier Lagoon between the bridge on the Marlborough Highway to the post markers at Bronte Lagoon

§  River Derwent between the Lyell Highway at Derwent Bridge and the radial gates at Lake St Clair
