The remaining diploid rainbow trout reared from last year’s egg harvest at Great Lake have been stocked into Dee Lagoon and Tooms Lake. Dee received another 2,500 of these fish to add to the 5,000 stocked there earlier in November and Tooms received 6,000 on Tuesday 30 November.

These fish weighed around 110 g. They were surplus to the annual stocking program and had been retained at the New Norfolk hatchery and grown to an older age class. A further 2,000 of the rainbows were also transferred to the Salmon Ponds to be on grown for stocking the kid’s fish-out at the Inland Fisheries Trout Weekend, Liawenee next May.

A load of around 22,000 small diploid brown trout weighing around 1.5 g have been transferred to the North Motton rearing unit. These will be on grown in preparation for dispersal into farm dams for public fishing around the North West region.
