The ‘No parking below this point’ signs have been removed and a designated parking area on the southern (Canal) side of the ramp has been cleared of rocks and signposted.

Boaters are encouraged to park appropriately and not to obstruct the launching area particularly at the end of the ramp. Leave plenty of room for a car and trailer to turn and launch or retrieve safely.

Anglers will also be pleased and relieved to know that Gunns Marsh Rd. from the B51 (Poatina Rd) junction to Jonah Bay campground will be graded and repaired over the next week in time for the coming holiday season. Hydro are funding the works which commenced on 23rd November and are due for completion in early December.

This year, the runs in some rivers were held back by increased downstream flows due to high rainfalls in the preceding weeks and months. However this did not deter the activities of some would-be poachers nor lessen the compliance work of Inland Fisheries inspectors.
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>News Item</dc:type>

After the very successful inaugural one day event in March 2007, the organisers have expanded the event to two days and on two different venues. Based at Miena in the Tasmanian Central Highlands, this is a fantastic fun event for teams of two anglers in Australia’s best trout fishery.
This year there is a massive prize pool for competitors, with a 12volt 55lb thrust MotorGuide electric bowmount engine supplied by Seaport Marine for the first placed team as well as at least $1000 in cash. In addition to this there are heaps of prizes and give aways from Daiwa and Berkley, a $250 prize for the longest trout caught over the two days and heaps more.

For more information log onto www.sportsfishtasmania.com or www.tasmaniansportsfisher.com.au for the complete competition information pack and entry forms. Phone enquires can be directed to Neil Grose on 0407 879 941.

Entries close on the February 15, so don’t leave it too late.

Derwent Valley Mayor, Tony Nicholson cut the ribbon and officially opened the site in front of around 50 guests. NNLAA Treasurer Ray Aitchison, the driving force behind the project, spoke of the history of the site and the project.
In conjunction with Greening Australia the NNLAA applied successfully for funding under the Federal Government’s Recreational Fishing Community Grants Programme.
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>News Item</dc:type>

Some interstate anglers were interviewed and investigations into the incident are continuing.
