Changes to parking and roads at Arthurs Lake
Due to low water levels at Arthurs Lake new arrangements have been put in place to accommodate vehicle and trailer parking closer to the launching area. The ‘No parking below this point’ signs have been removed and a designated parking area on the southern (Canal) side of the ramp has been cleared of rocks and signposted. Boaters are encouraged to park appropriately and not to obstruct the launching area particularly at the end of the ramp. Leave plenty of room for a car and trailer to turn and launch or retrieve safely. Anglers will also be pleased and relieved to know that Gunns Marsh Rd. from the B51 (Poatina Rd) junction to Jonah Bay campground will be graded and repaired over the next week in time for the coming holiday season. Hydro are funding the works which commenced on 23rd November and are due for completion in early December.

Whitebait Season Closes 11 November
The recreational whitebait season, which coincides with the springtime upstream migration of whitebait, closed on 11 November. This year, the runs in some rivers were held back by increased downstream flows due to high rainfalls in the preceding weeks and months. However this did not deter the activities of some would-be poachers nor lessen the compliance work of Inland Fisheries inspectors.

Invitation to all angling clubs - AAT meeting 19th August
Anglers Alliance Tasmania (AAT) believes that the structural organisation of angling clubs in Tasmania is at a critical stage of development and is seeking immediate action to strengthen its foundation. In particular, AAT points to decreasing support for the three regional umbrella Associations in the North, North West and South – as indicated by the recent drop in number of affiliated clubs - and notes the difficulty in filling Committee positions. The IFS and AAT extend an invitation for up to two members of all Tasmanian angling Clubs to attend a watershed meeting to discuss the future of Clubs and additionally enjoy a tour of the IFS’s new hatchery and offices. THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO TELL US HOW YOU VIEW THE FUTURE OF CLUBS AND HOW THE STRUCTURES COULD BE IMPROVED. DATE: SUNDAY 19TH AUGUST 10.30 AM WHERE: IFS OFFICES AND HATCHERY, 17 Back River Rd New Norfolk
