Inland Fisheries Newsletters
The Inland Fisheries Commission (IFC) first released newsletters for the public in 1970. These early newsletters were a brief one to two page summary of stocking, management and other news related to Tasmania’s inland fisheries.
In 1984 the IFC launched a three per year newsletter with a coloured banner. This newsletter comprised brief news stories, feature articles, stocking lists and prosecutions summaries.
In 1996 the IFC released a three per year newsletter under the title of “On the Rise”, this had much the same content of the previous editions but with a different format and title. This period of time represents the change from the Inland Fisheries Commission to the Inland Fisheries Service (IFS).
This part of the IFS website archives all newsletters from 1984 to 2002. The newsletters document changes to the Inland Fisheries Commission and Inland Fisheries Service over a 30 year period and provides an historical look at the Tasmanian trout fishery.
